case study

jenz mart - Grab & Go!

Services: Logo design and visual identity

client overview

Jenz Mart is a neighborhood convenience store in Bali created to serve both local residents and visiting tourists. The brand needed to feel approachable, memorable, and easy to recognize in a highly competitive retail environment while still communicating speed and everyday convenience.

The Challenge

Jenz Mart Logo Before Redesign

The original logo lacked strong retail presence and memorability. While friendly in tone, it did not clearly communicate the convenience store category or stand out visually among competitors that rely heavily on bold red palettes and generic retail styling.

Jenz Mart needed a distinctive identity that would:

  • Stand apart from typical convenience store branding
  • Feel playful yet still trustworth
  • Clearly signal quick, easy shopping
  • Work across storefront, packaging, and digital use
  • Build long term brand recognition

Concept Development

Jenz Mart Logo Concept

The Cart and Wheel Idea

The core concept centers around the universal shopping cart symbol. Instead of using a literal cart illustration, the design abstracts its movement and energy into the logo form. Typography was intentionally shaped to feel slightly lifted and dynamic, following the movement of the cart form to enhance energy and memorability.

Why the cart direction works

  • Instantly connects to shopping behavior
  • Communicates grab and go convenience
  • Suggests speed and ease
  • Feels familiar but visually fresh
  • Supports a playful retail personality

logo system

2 logo variation for jenz mart

The Jenz Mart identity was built as a flexible system including:

  • Primary stacked logo
  • Horizontal logo version
  • Supporting icon elements
  • Pattern graphics for brand applications

This ensures consistent performance across storefront signage, packaging, social media, and merchandise.

Visual Support Elements

Jenz Mart Visual Element Produce yellow background

To extend the brand beyond the logo, a set of playful support icons and patterns was created. These everyday food and convenience items make the brand feel friendly, relatable, and easy to recognize.

The hand drawn style adds warmth and personality while keeping the system flexible across packaging, social media, and in store graphics.

Store Signage Strategy

Signage JENZ MART grab & Go!

For the storefront application, the logo was paired with bold rounded bars inspired by playful retail awnings and ice cream shop visuals. This design choice was intentional.

Most convenience stores rely heavily on rigid layouts, red dominant palettes, and boxy signage. Instead, this approach introduces:

  • Soft rounded shapes that feel welcoming
  • High contrast color blocking for distance visibility
  • A rhythmic pattern that draws the eye from the street
  • A youthful retail energy aligned with the “Grab & Go” promise

color inspiration

Jenz Mart Color Palette

The Jenz Mart color palette is inspired by iconic textures and landscapes of Bali, creating a vibrant and culturally grounded brand experience.

Bali Sarong Purple
Inspired by traditional Balinese sarong patterns. This deep purple reflects cultural richness, creativity, and strong local identity while helping the brand stand out in a crowded retail environment.

Bali Frangipani Yellow
Drawn from the bright frangipani flower seen across Bali. This warm yellow represents energy, warmth, and quick grab and go convenience, enhancing visibility in store and on signage.

Pink Beach Indonesia
Inspired by the famous pink sand beaches in Komodo Island, near Bali Island. This soft pink adds friendliness and approachability, giving the brand a welcoming neighborhood feel.

outcome

The new Jenz Mart identity successfully transforms the brand from a generic minimart look into a distinctive retail experience.

The final system feels:

  • Playful and approachable
